How was everyone's 4th of July weekend???/
4th of July is one of my absolute favorite holidays!
It's always fun :)
I am a huge FAN of fireworks, cookouts, drinking some brewskis, staying in your swimsuit all day, dressing festively, and most importantly spending time with friends and family!
Any patriotic holiday has always meant something to me as well because my Dad. (the silent assassin.. haha) served in the Army when he was younger.
And now- my Snookums does!
HOOAH.
Our holiday weekend was GLORIOUS!
Snookums had a four day weekend- which meant he got the full day off on Friday too!!
Which meant, of course, a full day of sun, swimsuits, pool, and beers! :)
(that is, until the little tiny guy that works at the main office of our apartment complex came by and told on everyone for having beer at the pool. BOO. No fun. GO HOME little man.)
Friday also meant the arrival of little Olivia :)
On Saturday we were absolutely LAZY until it was time to get it together for the concert we had tickets for that night!
Ft. Sill was putting on a concert with Miranda Lambert and Merle Haggard!!
I was SOOOO excited when I first heard about it. I mean how much better can you get for a 4th of July weekend concert than a country concert, outside, on an Army base??
I wanted to be super America/ WOO/ Country so I ordered the cutest little American flag tank from F21 and got me some red glasses, and of course sported my cowboy boots and jean shorts. :)
OH. and I have finally learned how to do a braid on the front of my hair! I've only been trying for like a year now to get it right.. it really is super simple... now that I get it.
Snookums and I represented a little too! (BIG BLUE NATION!)
And of course.. AMUUUURICA!!
HAD to get the Bud America tallboys.
The only downfall to the evening was that we had to wait on a cab to come get us from the apartment FOREVER!
(Quick vent- the cab companies and system where we live is ridiculous. You call and tell them where you are, they tell you they will have one there and they hang up! There is no name exchange, numbers given, and no time frame given! RIDICULOUS.)
We waited on a cab for about an hour.. but we spent our time wisely ;) ;) and made that cab a little more worthwhile!
(classsssayyyy... no better way to start off a country concert night than cheap tequila.)
Ready to go...
Once we got to the concert I got SO excited! It was still BLAZING hot, but beautiful outside!!
We found a perfect spot, for getting there so last minute.. and posted up with our picnic blanket!
The concert was held in the Polo Field on post...
We also soon discovered that the keg truck had completely ran out of cups!! Sooo.... we improvised :)
The concert was great :) We didn't get to hear a whole lot of Merle Haggard because of our cab fiasco, but we were there well before Miranda Lambert came on!
had to wear cowboy boots OF COURSE.
I think Miranda Lambert is just adorable.. and I love her voice.
She also had her hair the same way I had mine ;) Great minds think alike!!
Snookums got us some chicken-on-a-stick, (seriously, some of the best fried chicken I have ever had in my life!) and a DELISH funnel cake. I wish I would have got a picture of them. THEY WERE SO GOOD.
We spent the rest of the concert sipping our pitchers- beers, and doing our best redneck yells!
WOOOOOOO!!! FREEBIRD!!!
WOOOOOOO!!! FREEBIRD!!!
The concert really was SOOOO much fun! I had the BEST time.
When we left we had to wonder around AGAIN, and figure out the cab situation.. but thankfully we got scooped up and shared a cab with a couple of guys..
(Snookums got referred to as SIR the whole ride by the guys we shared with who were PVTS... too funny. I hadn't got to hear him be referred to as SIR yet. It was kinda cool. Weird- but cool!)
On Sunday and Monday we did nothing but RELAX!!
Had some jello cake...
I went ahead and gave Snookums his birthday present from my family and I..
It's some video game where you shoot animals.. and go on crazy hunting expos. I think its like Cabella's Dangerous Hunts?
Whatever it is. It was fun!
Had to try on the 3D glasses that came with it.
This is what little Skeeter did all day..
On the actual 4th of July we just hung around the house and watched movies, and then ventured out to get some Carnival of Ice. This place is AMAZZZZING. It's just like Hawaiian ices, but they have a ton of different flavors. Even a PICKLE flavor?? Who would want that? I'm tempted to get it just to see how nasty it is!
Skeeter came to Carnival of Ice too..
PICKLE flavor???
Little Skeeter had to rock his 4th of July flag bandana :)
Skeeter was tuckered OUT.
It was a fabulous weekend!!
