Last Wednesday we went to Snookum's Red Leg Social event!
I posted about it right before we went, here.
I was a straight nervous wreck! But I am always pumped to get a new dress and get all dolled up.
I tried a new up-do. I had never tried it before, and probably shouldn't have tried it for the first time right before we went, but it worked!
(sorry for crappy iphone pic!)
It is SUPER easy. And I am gonna do it like that all the time now :) I think it took me about 15 minutes total to do!
(HAHAHAHA my good lookin' fiance')

Skeeter had to be included of course ;)
The Red Leg Social is an event that is designed so that you can find out where your next duty station is, meet the people from your classes that will also be going there, and meet previous people who have lived at that location and are currently in the captains career course!
When you arrive at the social, you find out where you are going based on what table you are seated at.
So you don't know until you get inside and sit down. HAHA
I was nervous.
When we got to the social location, everyone was just kind of standing around outside, and had to do a formation. I decided that at 106 degrees, I had better stay in the car and wait. Because, you know, I might melt or something.
That 20 minutes that I spent sitting in the car by myself was SO nerve wracking!!
I was a nervous wreck. I just kept wondering, what if we picked the wrong options? What if we don't get any of our choices? What if we have to stay in OK another year??
(not that it would be the end of the world, I am actually enjoying my time here. Very relaxing. But there is absolutely no way in hell I could survive a deployment out here. I would have to be closer to all my friends and family!!)
Anyway. I was going crazy! Thank God for my Britt. We kept texting back and forth about it, and about funny things I was seeing while sitting in the car. Most of it wasn't nice. haha So I won't write about it.
Then Snookums came back and said it was time to go inside!
As we walked inside we looked for our names on the seating chart, which told us what table number to go sit at. Still no word on where we were going. Just a number!
The Battery commander was situated at the front with his wife to introduce themselves, and said if things got too "army" that the spouses could all come sit at a couple reserved tables. Nice idea, But- I'm pretty certain that I am always gonna be one of those "spouses" who WANTS to know everything. I HATE not knowing what is going on, or what people are talking about. I really don't like being ignorant on a subject either. Which I still am right now. Haha. I know very little about the Army. But I am learning!
The Battallion Commander at the front asked us where we wanted to go. We told him Georgia. He said, "Well, you're close!"
Cue me panicking.
So we didn't get where we wanted. And we didn't get somewhere we requested.
FREAK OUT.
We walked over to our table, and saw the sign placed on the table letting us know where we were going.......
We didn't even request where we got because Snookums hasn't completed airborne school yet!
(He will be going sometime in November)
So, it wasn't what we requested, but really I think it's just perfect!!!
I am one of those people that believes that everything happens for a reason. And if you mess with things, and try to change their course, then it just isn't the way it is supposed to be.
I am super excited because it is MUCH closer to mine and Snookum's home state of Kentucky.
We will be back in a "southern" area...
(I miss all the southern hospitality... and just good ol' "southerness") I made that word up.
Closer to all of mine and his family- Closer to friends.
And I even have a couple friends in the area.
So you can't get better than that!
Having the guys who had previously worked and served there was soooo helpful.
They told us where we should try to rent a house, told us about on post housing, and the pros and cons of actually buying a house.
All things we're gonna have to think about.
Sooo, we have a busy couple of months coming up :)
And I am REALLY excited about it!
OH. And the first thing we said when we found out was that we will be buying us some UK bumper stickers as soon as possible.
Gotta represent.
XOXO
