Figuring it all out

Things have been a little crazy around here lately. 

We have been trying to figure out what to do about a wedding/ a move/ airborne school/ and a possible deployment all within the next 6 months. 

I think it would be safe to say that I have been a little crazy, and a little stressed. 

I've spent countless hours and hours on the computer/internet/phone researching the possibility of even pulling together a wedding in such a short time.. (we're talking OCTOBER here people)

BUT- I think we have finally figured it OUT!

Alright. I have a confession to make.

I am obsessed with Rent The Runway

If you don't know about this little gem yet, it is a company that allows you to rent dresses that you may not want to spend hundreds, or even a thousand or two on to only wear once.

I decided to give it a try this past May when I needed a dress for a million different things. I had Snookum's OCS graduation & family day, a wedding, Derby, and a bachelorette party to attend. Coupled with the fact that we were moving cross country at the end of the month and had final rents and bills to finish paying.. There was absolutely no way I was getting a new dress for all of those.

So what is a girl to do?

RENT!

I was kinda skeptical at first. I mean- how good can a dress look if you rent it?

Amazing. That's how good.

There are reviews on almost every single dress/gown. If you take the time to read them, and really look at the dresses, it is pretty easy to find one that you know will look good on you! They also have fit specialist that you can chat with at any time. Also- when you order a dress you automatically get to rent TWO sizes for that price. With floor length gowns it gives you the option of renting a regular length gown and a "long" floor length gown. Which is awesome when you're a taller girl like me! It gives you the option of what shoes to wear as well!!

And if you get the dress and it doesn't work because of fit, or a problem with the gown, you DON'T PAY!

You also have the option to rent a "back up gown" for $25.00 in TWO SIZES.

When you're done with it, you put it back into the mailing envelope they send to you, and pop it in any mail drop box.

I can't sing enough praises for this website!!!

My first rental turned out great! (Besides the Lexington postal service being ridiculous. Long story. I had to meet the driver downtown to get my dress because they "lost it" and didn't know what truck it was on.  Even though I had called and asked for them to hold it at the office for me to come pick up. The whole thing happened because the office manager, who promised they would have it at the office that morning rather than out on a delivery truck- "couldn't find it on the truck because it was too full." TRANSLATE: absolute laziness. Don't worry. They knew they messed up. And I got the dress. But they heard it from me! haha)

Anyway-

I rented a rich navy blue Nicole Miller chiffon floor length gown. I think it retailed for $900.00 and only cost $100.00 to rent! I got SO many complements on the dress, even in the receiving line!

This is a great option for me because if you haven't figured out, I am a picture queen, and who wants a bunch of pictures from different events in the same dress?

Now- next week we have another formal here in Oklahoma.. So right away I decided I needed a dress from Rent the Runway. It just makes sense. Rent a dress for $100- $200, that retails for waaay more than that. Look good, and wear a different one next time!

This is a black tie formal, so Snookums will be wearing a black bow tie with his dress blues.

I am thinking basic black. :)

Randoms

1. Am I the only person that is super excited about Jersey Shore in Italy??? OMG.
I am a huge fan of any trashy TV. I was SO pumped when they first came out with Jersey Shore. I had been thinking they should do something like that forever! I always watch MTV's True Life: I'm a Jersey Shore Girl every single time it is on. I can't wait to see what kind of nonsense those guidos get into. My faves have always been Snooki & Pauly D. And I think Ronnie and Sammie are absurd. But they make good TV!

2. I keep thinking about our engagement pictures. I am not worried at all that they will turn out good! Just worried that I might not get to get prints as soon as I would like to send out save the dates. I have the CUTEST idea/ take on the whole sending out a postcard thing for them.. We will just have to see.

3. I have been kind of sad lately bc I realized that July is half way over!! Where has my summer gone?? I've decided next week I am laying out at least every other day. I mean when else am I gonna have the opportunity to have no true responsibilities, not have a job, and have the opportunity to seriously get my tan on? Oh. and this goes for working out too. I know someday.. when (if) I ever have kids I will be SO pissed that I had all the time in the world to get my fitness on and I didn't.

4. I am major missing my friends!! I need some girl time, wine, and a patio on which to eat & drink & be merry. Specifically a Thursday Night Live session in downtown Lexington. :)

Prepping for Engagement Photos!

Today, at dinner Snookums and I were discussing our engagement photos we are getting done the first week of August. We both decided that we absolutely HAD to get a couple pictures done in University of Kentucky gear! He is a MUCH more serious fan than myself, but we both went there, met there, and went to tons of games and UK things together. So why not include it in our engagement photos?

I am hoping to find a cute UK blue dress, and wear it with my favorites, and my fashion staples- My cowboy boots. I love these little babies with ALL MY HEART. I will be pure heartbroken when I cannot wear them any longer!

We also had decided previously that of course Skeeter had to be in a couple of the photographs too! 

He is like our child, and if you haven't noticed, I may be obsessed with him. He's just so cute, and sweet. Most people would disagree.. but it is probably just because he doesn't care for them. haha.

Anyway- after dinner we came home and I got right to work on finding some cute UK goodies for Skeety! I was thinking that he should probably get a UK collar. 

(also- as a side note- please don't think I was a bad UK mommy for not having skeeter a UK collar or  shirt yet. He has never been much of a tailgater, or a social butterfly. So there was no need for Skeeter to have such things.)

The cowboy boots are Giani Bini, and I have had them forever. Maybe like sophomore year of college?

The more I've looked, the more I am leaning against anything that actually has the UK logo on it, or that is the SERIOUS bright blue. But- I still think the UK dresses are adorable! How perfect would one of these be for those first couple football games/tailgates that are ridiculously hot??

This ruffle dress is definitely my favorite out of the UK options. I am a sucker for ruffles right now. 

But- although some would say I was "blessed" with height and long legs, it also causes a lot of problems in the dress department. Something that would look adorable and sweet on someone else, would look straight up skankalicious on me. Like- this dress for instance.

Now- this little gem was one of about 20 that I tried on when shopping for a dress for the Red Leg Social. (here) I would much rather buy a dress that I have tried on and know I liked and felt comfortable with the length. 

But 

I cannot, for the life of me, remember who this dress was by. I am thinking it was Calvin Klein. And it was on sale. For like 50.00. And I kid you not- I was thisclose to buying it bc what UK fan shouldn't have a couple blue dresses. 

Kicking myself now for not getting it.. but I'm gonna go see if just by chance they might still have it or one very similar at Dillards!!

Sooo that brings me to the other dress I bought on that same day for the engagement shoot. 

It is in *my color* that I am flat out obsessed with and drawn to. 

I'm so in love with it, it is not even funny. The back is the best part, but I probably won't have a picture of it until after the shoot! 

I will probably just do this dress with some neutral heels. I am hoping for a shot or two with Snookums Army boots and my heels. A little kitchy, I know. But it would make a cute photo :)

I am seriously contemplating going back blonde before these photos too. No matter what color my hair is, I'm definitely fixing it in my standard wavy, semi-curled, casual, boho look. 

Also- we're sending in my ring to get it re-sized and all shined up before the shoot! Snookums got it custom made from a jeweler in AZ that has done both Snookum's brother's wife's ring, and his step-brother's wife's ring. (that was a mouthful.) 

Anyway- sending it via mail makes me nervous.... Yikes! 

Good thing this bad boy is insured. But still. I would DIE if anything happened to it!

Questionaire... Because the TV is being held hostage.

Tonight, I am sitting here, with nothing much to do because someone has taken over the TV with their new NCAA Football 12 game. So, I'm gonna pour me a glass of wine and fill out this questionaire.

Victoria's secret Grey racerback tank from the Army collection. It says US ARMY on the front in white, and I LOVE PINK on the back. 

What's currently bothering you?

Not knowing when we should plan a wedding. It is driving me crazy. We're waiting to find out if we can have it at the location we really want, and were also waiting on official papers. Oh, and were gonna have to plan a move in the middle of all of it too! haha. IT MAKES ME NUTS. I feel like I am wasting time sitting and doing things like this, but there is  no reason to spend money or lots of time planning something when it may not be happening in that way.

What do you currently hear?

Sound effects from Snookum's football game. He's playing as UK, and playing against UL. He is apparently pissed because he is not doing well. 

When was the last time you had your hair cut?

Awhile ago. Like before Snookum's graduated OCS. So like the end of April? WOW. I need a haircut!
It's getting super long tho. Growing out some weddin' hair y'all! 

When were you last outside?

About an hour or so ago. We went to get something to eat at Atlanta Bread, and then I made Snookums go with me to Hobby Lobby to check out some prices on things :)

Does the thought of marriage scare you?

I've always been really weird about it. When ppl would mention me getting married when I was younger I would freak out and be like, NO WAY! I am/ was the same way about kids!
And in the past year or so when people would mention Snookums and I getting married before we were engaged I would get major anxiety/ break out in hives.. if you know me personally.. you know this is true! (not because I don't love him or don't want to marry him... I just have always had some weird aversion to it?? I don't know why though. My Momma and Daddy Moo have been happily married for a long time!

Anyway- Marriage doesn't scare me, just freaks me out a little. haha

What have you done today?

Today I slept in by mistake :( I thought I set my alarm but didn't. Woke up when Snookums came home from PT, laid around, did some laundry, Snookums got to come home early so we had lunch together, my TV got hijacked, did some blogging, talked to one of my best friends in the WORLD for forever, and read a wedding planning book I got in the mail. Got a text and a pic from two other besties who were having a drink in downtown Lexington at one of my favorite events ever- Thursday Night Live (made me miss it and them!!) Oh. and Atlanta Bread and Hobby Lobby. Now I'm drinking some wine Snookums brought home for me, and filling out this silly questionaire to keep my mind off all the things I could be planning if I knew anything :)

What time did you go to sleep last night?

Probably about 3:30. I couldn't get to sleep so I made some popcorn and read another wedding planning book. haha

Being sweet, and considerate. And being funny/dorky. I can't stand when people take themselves too seriously!! 

What are you going​ to do this weeke​nd?

Not sure yet? Probably not anything crazy. We had Snookums bday party last weekend, and he has a big test on Monday. Probably some grocery shoppin, and cookin. Oh! And we are going over to Ft. Sill on Saturday or Sunday to take some pics :) I finally got to see around base a little bit when we went to the Red Leg Social.. (wrote about it here) and thought it was absolutely gorgeous!! So we're gonna go "exploring" this weekend.

HAHA. At first no. I was having a crazy dream that Snookums was cheating on me with a really skankalicious girl. And I woke up to him calling me. So I was mad at first. But I ended up in a great mood cause he got to come home early.

Have you ever crawled through a window?

Haha. Yes. Many a time. During high school my poor friend Sierra's window had many a girl climb in and out of it. And occasionally fall out of it. Poor window.
We were all wild. Sometimes I REALLY miss our like gang of 10 girls that raised some hell!
I am still really good friends with 3 of the girls I went to high school with. I think that is pretty good all things considered!

Has anyone ever mistaken you for a family member?

No. I don't think so. Ppl can never decide if I look like my momma moo or my daddy moo. I think I am a mix of both.

Also- don't mind Skeeter's crazy face. It was the 4th of July last year. And he was a little cray cray from the fireworks!

But- back to the original question.. No, I haven't been mistaken looks-wise for a family member.. but whenever I was a little younger (and even now sometimes) after we would go visit my Momma Moo's side of the family in Indiana she would always call me by her younger sisters name for like two weeks. I guess out of habit? I don't know. My cousin said her mom, my Momma Moo's other sister always did the same to her too. 

Do you have reason to smile right now? Yeah! I'm with my Snookums. That hasn't been the case for quite awhile before while he was away at school, and I'm sure at some point he will be away on deployment. So yes. I have plenty of reason to smile right now! 

OH. and one of my besties, (the one with the poor window) Sierra just called me, from after Thursday Night Live festivities in Lexington, and proceeded to tell me she had gotten lost walking back to my other besties house, and somehow ended up outside the Papa John's on campus and was eating a Goodfellas pizza and thought that Papa John's might be mad. HAHAHA It was awesome. She is one funny character. LOVE YOUU.

What do you do when you're stressed out?

If it isn't a serious "Stress Out" I just take a deep breath or two, or go in a room by myself for a minute. If it is a "Serious Stress Out" there is probably gonna be yelling. Not necessarily AT anyone.. more like TO someone. haha Venting- if you will. 

Would you honestly say you'd risk your life for someone else?

Yes. I would risk my life in a heartbeat for some people in my life! It sounds kind of morbid- but I would rather me go, than someone I'm close to! 

Do you open up to people easily?

No. Not usually. I have friends I am really close with, but most of the time I stay in my happy little denial bubble. If I trust you I will somewhat....

Has anyone upset you in the last week?

Hmmm. Not really. Unless you count the apartment manager here. Her and I had words when we first arrived in Oklahoma to move in. The apartment complex itself is amazing. I loooove it. But she is rather snooty, and kind of tried to say we messed up our move in date, when it was her or her office. And I kinda told her off. (because we had just driven two days, spent two nights in hotels, had all our belongings in a rental Uhaul and she wanted to tell us it wouldn't be ready until the next day and that she didn't care who we were, she wasn't going to do anything differently than she had ever done it before.) Um. No. Try again. Get your shit together because we're moving in today. Thanks!
And we absolutely moved in THAT DAY.

Anyway- Wednesday we had a little ant problem, that was caused by the bug spraying they did around all the apartments on Tuesday. And when we called to tell them about it she said things along the lines of that you can't leave things out that might attract them, or leave sugary things sitting out. Implying that we were being dirty and we were the reason they showed up. I wanted to be like- Girl, you could eat off my counters. Screw you. She just really bothers me. I would take any opportunity to tell her off. :)

This just reminded me to take my Hair, Skin & Nails pill! 

(is it bad to take vitamins with wine? If so. Oops. )

I remembered my dream. And was REALLY confused.

I have actually been in a great mood today. Much better than the last few days! I blame Snookums and my puppy, and all the hilarious talks I have had with friends today for my GOOD mood :)

Where is the person you like right now?

He was sitting on the couch. And oh- BTW. He won that game he was upset about earlier. Now he is back in the guest bedroom printing stuff off for tomorrow.. 

The other guy I like is laying in the floor, with a blue stuffed baby. (Skeeter)

Oh. Just kidding he just came back in with pictures and had me quiz him on military vehicles or something.

Do you care of what people think of you?

Yes and No. I do not care at all what people think if they do not matter to me. If you don't like me, you don't. I am who I am, if you don't like it, don't look at me, talk to me, read what I say, or care about what I do... :) 

But- friends, and family, and loved ones, I definitely care what they think. I would never want someone's feelings to be hurt, or someone to be upset by something I did. (within reason) 

I used to realllly care what people thought. And I got over it. I don't think it's healthy. It's my life. And I'm gonna do what makes ME happy :)

Tomorrow! It's friday! I'm gonna lay out, and relax. And enjoy this calm before the storm (or craziness) that will probably be the next couple months!

Haha. Yes. I think so. He gave me a ring and says he wants to marry me :) 

If you could go back in time and change something would you?

Yes and No. There are some times in high school and college where I would like to go back and change some things that happened between myself and someone, or at least not have other people know about it or see things happen. Just so that it wouldn't have such an effect on me afterwards like it did. However, I think I learned a lot from those things. I know what I won't put up with now because of it, and know how great and blessed I am now to have someone like Snookums :) 

Do you hate smokers?

No! I don't really hate anyone.. Snookums smokes, and says he is gonna quit.. (haha we shall see) and I did too for awhile. I still do occasionally. And a lot of my friends do. I don't have a problem with it. I just think as we get older, and if we decide to have kids, we probably shouldn't anymore...

Ever had a near death experience?

Yes. Nearly hit a bunch of trees head on in highschool. And although not near death, I have had a pretty scary trip to the hospital before.

Something you do a lot?

Omg. Play with my eyelashes... they have to be perfect or it drives me INSANE. I also twirl my hair a lot.

Have you ever been to a tanning bed?

Yep. I used to go a lot in college, and I used to do promotions for one. So I went all the time, but mainly did spray tan.

Hmm.. hopefully not. But you never know... Ex-GF's never like me.. but then again as an Ex you never really like the new girl or the previous girl do ya? So I guess that doesn't count.
I don't think I do anything to people to make them not like me.. but you never know! 

What are you stressed out about?

I think a couple questions earlier covered this ;) But, Moving, Wedding, and Deployment. 

What was your favourite grade?

Senior Year in high school was pretty good. And if you cut out some things from Junior Year I liked it too! We were crrraaazzzzzyyyyy. I also really liked aspects of my Junior year when I lived with all my brunette roomies, but the best part of college was deciding that Snookums and I should give it a go.

When is the next time you'll see your best friend(s)?

Hopefully in August?!?!? I am SOOOOO excited to see everyone again! :)

Are any of your friends pregnant?

Hmmm... not close friends... or at least that I know of?! haha Snookums brother and his wife just had a baby :) (wrote about it here)

If I am sleeping in the same bed as Snookums and Skeeter I usually don't sleep all that well. Skeeter has adopted a new habit of completely taking over our pillows, or he has to be right up in between us. So I get smooshed out. Haha

But usually I sleep on my right side, and I always have to pull the blanket up, scrunch it up and use it as my pillow. Always.

Last time you saw fireworks, with who & where?

This 4th we didn't get to see fireworks because we were on a burn ban here in OK. I was sad about it :( 

But the last time I saw fireworks was the 4th of July before. Snookums and I went to my grandparents in Indiana and watched them with around 30+ of my family :)

 (I LOVE going to my grandparent's house in Indiana. It is always absolutely beautiful there, and a photographers dream! We are HOPING & PRAYING that we may get to have the wedding & ceremony there. But- we will see! )

Hmmm......Hoarders is a ridiculous show. I wish I had Sierra here with me now so we could talk smack and crack jokes about the ppl that were on it. We watched it every wednesday when we lived together!
