I love engagement photos because they are an awesome opportunity to show your personality as a couple! Not that your wedding photos, and any other photos wouldn't show this, it's just that the engagement session allows you to be a little less serious, and a whole lotta kitchy!! (my favorite!)
It's a somewhat interesting story about how I found our photographer here in Oklahoma. Back almost two years ago, I stumbled across a blog of a girl (Megan) http://www.inthiswonderfullife.com/
here in Oklahoma and continued to check back in every once in awhile. Her story was very touching. Her and her husband got pregnant with their first baby, and soon discovered he had a heart defect. I followed all the way through their story of the pregnancy, birth, and death of their son Cohen.
Read about it here: Cohen's Story
It is amazing what they have gone through, and where they are today! Now with the two CUTEST little twinnies you ever saw in your life!
Once we moved out to Oklahoma, I decided to start my own blog back up- and remembered Megan's blog. I checked back in, and spent some time catching up on her stories.
Then a month or two after moving here, we found out Snookum's next orders, and decided we needed to get some engagement photos done! I looked all over the internet, and found Lisa Dunham's LSD photos in Tulsa, Oklahoma!

I loved her style, I loved the quirky and fun look of all her shoots, and decided she was the one for us!
I sent her an email, and waited to hear back from her.
That next day, I checked back to Megan's blog (she had posted an update). Her update was a photo shoot of her and her husband with a bunch of red balloons in honor of their son Cohen. I thought the pictures were awesome, and scrolled down to read her story, and she mentioned that her MOTHER IN LAW had taken the photos, and showed the link to LSD studios!! It was just too much! Megan's was really the only blog I had kept up with over the last couple years, and somehow I had ended up in Okahoma, and somehow we had stumbled across her mother in law completely separate from her blog, to take our engagement photos!
Long story.
Anyway- Lisa and I finally talked on the phone, and I discovered that there was just too much in common, and we both decided a photo shoot just had to happen. (She also has family ties to Ft. Sill) (Read her blog post about us for details!)
Trippin' with LSD
We met up with Lisa and her husband and daughter at Meer's burgers, about 30 minutes away from Ft. Sill. (This restaurant is apparently the place to be! Most people wait in line FOREVER to eat here. It's SUPER duper good. Snookum's and I plan on going back in the next week or so before we move!)
They were awesome, we got along with Lisa great. It just went really really well!
We took pictures all over the place!!
We took some really awesome pictures RIGHT NEXT TO WILD BUFFALO at the Oklahoma wildlife reserve. (I thought I was going to die at one point. I had on heels. And Snookums can totally run faster than me, heels or not. So I knew I would be the first to go!)
We went on post and took some pictures around some of the housing, and other buildings in the area.
( I love this one. She told Snookums to tell me a dirty joke. HA)
And we had to take a picture of our "uniforms". Snookums go to outfit for EVERYTHING is his tried and true khakis, and trusty boat shoes. And my favorite combo is a dress and boots. Always.
We played kissy face on post....
We frolicked about...
Busted!
Had to take a good headshot for the newspapers...
And we took a couple cute sidewalk chalk pics with the name of our song, "All my lovin'" by The Beatles. (My cousin sang it in our wedding. It was AMAZING)
And we took some tailgating pics with our puppy Skeeter! She said he was such a HAM the entire time. Now you see why I take so many pics of little skeet. HE LOVES IT.
(he is totally trying to steal our thunder in this picture.)
She wrote up an awesome post about us on her blog- it still makes me smile to read it!
Check it out here "I don't think were in Kentucky anymore!"
Anyway- now that we are married, and we are going to have all those fabulous wedding pictures, I am SO HAPPY that we decided to get our engagement photos done. It will be so nice to look back at where we started everything- here in Oklahoma, engaged, wedding planning, living together for the first time!
In fact- I plan on having someone shoot us every year, or at least every place we move to, or for each new chapter of our lives. I just love photos. I love having something to look back on!
THANKS LISA at LSD PHOTOS! :)
XOXO
