HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

New Year's Day was one of those days where we really had NOTHING to do all day.
And I loved it!!
We had just recently got back from our 10 day Christmas Tour of 2011
(And more "parts" to come later)
SO we were utterly exhausted and decided to do absolutely nothing besides sit on our couch for new year's eve!!

For such a lazy day, we actually did a lot..
I decided to give an old corner shelf a new makeover!

We watched The University of Kentucky beat The University of Louisville!!! Such a big game in Kentucky. They are basically our rivals. And yes. Jay-z attended the game. We're just that cool. We all had on our Kentucky gear of course, including Skeeter!

I also decided to give myself a little New Year's manicure!!
If I wasn't going to get to dress up and wear some glitter, I was gonna put some on my nails :) I started to do a silver tip on all of my nails, but I decided I liked it better just on my ring finger!

We also got out my new mixer that Snookums got me for Christmas!! I am so in love with it. Really. I still can't believe he got it for me. He kept telling me that he hoped I liked my present, he wasn't sure if I would, and that he really didn't spend that much on it. LIAR. haha I love it. And it's in my favorite color in the world. I really do have an amazing hubby. :)

I made some peppermint chocolate chip cookies.. which were really really good. (I normally don't like sweets, but I will eat just about anything peppermint!)

I also made Captain Rodney's dip. It. Is. So. GOOD. If you haven't ever made it before, you should. It takes no time at all, and it has everything that is good in the world in it. (cheese and bacon!)
We had pretty much all of it eaten by the end of the day. Most people eat it with Ritz crackers, but I actually like it with taco chips, like Tostitos!

After we had eaten ourselves to death on dips and sweets, we made a huge dinner. Because, what else is there to do after you've eaten all day, besides EAT MORE!
Snookums always has to have his steaks, and I am major obsessed with brussel sprouts. HAHA call me weird, but I think they are so delicious with butter, salt, pepper, and bacon. YUM.
I also tried something a little different with our usual baked mac and cheese. We got a chipotle spiced gouda to mix in (among other things). It made it just the right amount of spicy :)

It was so nice to just hang out ALL day and cook dinner, have some drinks, and just relax. I know with Snookum's upcoming deployment (ick.) there isn't a whole lot more time to do these things. I wish I could just stop time, BUT, you can't. (boo.)

I also made the best concoction of a drink I have ever had. Hands down. I wouldn't say it's the "Skinniest" drink I've ever made (lots of calories) but still very delicious, and CLASSY. Haha

Now here is my favorite part..
Has anyone seen the show on TLC called "30 year old virgins"????
(It's a show about people who are 30 or older and are still virgins. Obviously).
The first episode has a scene between two 30 year old virgins, who are getting married, and are kissing for the very first time at the altar. If you haven't seen it. Look up the video. You will see why our faces look like this. It is so incredibly awkward and gross.
I actually meant to just get Snookums in these pictures to get his reaction.. but I got me too.
And I can't tell who's reaction is the funniest...

Then, we did what any really awesome and cool couple does on New Year's Eve, and played around with the photo booth on my Mac...

We really are both so attractive.

Skeeter was obviously not happy when we tried to get him in the pictures. See bottom left photo. SCARY!
I promise. We really can be cool sometimes.
It was the perfect New Year's for us! We sat around, ate a lot, had quite a few drinks, tortured played around with our puppy, watched Dick Clark, and pretended like we were back at Rosebuds (our fave bar) in Kentucky and took shots at midnight!!
I was so happy to have spent it with my Snookums!
I know there are a lot of ladies, (and guys) out there who didn't have their loved one here to kiss at midnight because they are deployed.
So, I just want to be sure to give a big thank you to not only the men and women serving, but the men and women AT HOME letting the military borrow their loved one, and waiting patiently on them to return.
:)

HAPPY NEW YEAR BLOGGY FRIENDS!!!! :) :) :)

I love your nails (as always), and I extra love your mixer and the fact that he got it in the color we're obsessed with. I have a really yummy recipe for brussel sprouts and one for peppermint cheesecake if you want them!

Well...maybe I'm celebrating the little things but I think this deserves it...congratulations on your mixer! We just got one in September (as a wedding gift) and it is, by far, my favorite gift we received. It makes cooking a breeze!

And your Skeeter is adorable. Melts my heart. :) Reminds me of our Zombie.
