Deployment Song

Well. I think I've found my "deployment song".
Everyone has one. It's a song that just says so much about the experience.
For me, I've handled the whole thing well, it's only every once in awhile that I let it get to me. It's just at night, when you start to worry, and you can't sleep, that it hits you.
Everyone says, "oh, just STAY BUSY!" (which drives me crazy.)
What people don't seem to understand, is that it doesn't matter "HOW BUSY" I stay throughout the day. I'm still coming home by myself. Still eating dinner by myself. And still going to bed by myself. All the time. Every single day.
But hey. I just close my eyes each night, and I'm another day closer!!!!!!

I'm normally not the biggest fan of Taylor Swift. I don't dislike her, just don't usually listen to her music... now The Civil Wars, on the other hand, are AMAZING. So, of course I would like this song. The video, not so much. And I haven't read Hunger Games yet. (I KNOW. THE SACRILEGE!)
I just love it. It's a little sad, but I see the positive in the lyrics too!

I remember tears streaming down your face
When I said, "I'll never let you go"
When all those shadows almost killed your light
I remember you said, "Don't leave me here alone"
But all that's dead and gone and passed tonight

Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound

Don't you dare look out your window darling
Everything's on fire
The war outside our door keeps raging on
Hold on to this lullaby
Even when the music's gone
Gone

Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound

Just close your eyes
You'll be alright
Come morning light,
You and I'll be safe and sound...

I am praying for you girl. I don't have an inspirational words because I could never relate to this. My mom and dad did this for 9 months while he was in the navy, and I always ask her how she did it. And she always told me, I just made as many friends as I could. She told me that other military wives became family and often had sleepovers so they didn't sleep by themselves.
I really hope this time gets easier for you and you can find something to keep your mind off of it.
Good luck girl !

It will get better I promise! I had a whole playlist of deployment songs. Most of them were sad but they helped for some reason.

You are stronger than you know! Hope you have a wonderful day.

This song gave me chills when I heard it at the end of Hunger Games (because I'm the crazy who stays until the last credit rolls). It's totally fitting song.
And I'm glad you're back; I hope you were able to clear your mind a bit. There's nothing wrong with taking personal time, lovely lady!

I heard this song for the first time the other day and really liked it :) You should seriously read the Hunger Games! I liked it a lot more than I thought I would.

As for the deployment, you're right about the stay busy comments and nights spent alone. I know people mean well, but the only true comfort is when you hear his voice and when you are welcoming him home back into your arms.

You are a strong woman, and I'm very impressed with how you have handled this deployment. You are wise beyond your years! You're always in my thoughts!
