All my lovin.

Close your eyes and I'll kiss you.
Tomorrow I'll miss you.
Remember I'll always be true.
And then while I'm away, I'll write home every day.
And I'll send all my lovin' to you.

All my lovin'
I will send to you.
All my lovin'
Darlin' I'll be true.
I'll pretend I am kissin'
The lips I am missin'
And hope that my dreams will come true.
And then while I'm away,
I'll write home every day.
And I'll send all my lovin' to you.

Do I have an accent?

HAHAHA. First let me say. I am DYING over the awesome still shot that YouTube has selected for our video. I look stunning, I know.
Quite some time ago, there was this really cool "accent test" floating around blog land. (I know, I'm late to the party). I told Snookums about it, and he initially laughed, because of how strong my accent is. I then told him, that I wanted him to take the "test" with me.
See, he also has an accent. It isn't around all of the time, but it comes out on certain words! But HE doesn't think he has as bad of an accent as I do.
He's right.
Mine is SOOO much worse.
You can tell I'm noticing how bad it is as I am reading the words!
(ALSO. If you haven't seen this: this is how it works. You read the words as you would SAY them. Then you have a list of questions that you are supposed to supply the answer to!)

Some of my favorite moments...
"No, go slow!"(me)
"You don't say it like FIRE?!"(me)
"That is NOT how you say those!"(me)
"It's just like an answer... but you can't read it!"(me)
"I said doodle bug for some reason?!"(me)
"Paw Paw"(Snookums)
"What do you call it when it rains and the sun is shining?" (me)  "Uhhh I don't know? RAIN?" "It's rain!"(Snookums) "No, it's drizzling.. it's drizzlin'." (me) "No. It's rain"(snookums)
"No you call it a mote."(me) "well, that's just a joke?"(snookums)

I think his confusion on "what do you call gym shoes.. is hilarious.

Really. I realize we are not that funny.. But I hope y'all enjoy getting to know Snookums and I a little better!!!

What do y'all think?? Who has the worst accent???? Is it really me????

Care Packages

I realize I have been a little MIA recently. I have had a couple posts scheduled, but haven't really been around blog land. I'm just trying to get in the swing of things around here!
I promise I will be back and be commenting up a STORM this weekend! :)
I hope y'all don't think I've gone off and left ya.

Today, I plan on doing a little shopping for care packages!
I have seen some SUPER COOL care packages floating around on pinterest and I know a couple gals on instagram that I talk to often do some very elaborate and awesome care packages!

Here are a couple cute ideas I have found so far that have me inspired...
And yes, hubby, if you are reading my blog, (which he does sometimes) you might be getting some of these things.. but you know I will make it different somehow!

(Obviously it isn't Christmas.. haha but I LOVE how this person decorated the WHOLE box!)

AND. The first treat I'm going to make.. :)

YES. YOU ARE SEEING THOSE CORRECTLY. OREO STUFFED CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES!!!! I think I have died and gone to heaven.

I know there are a couple things within those packages I pinned that you can't actually send over, such as the drinks, and regular chocolate bars..
But I am curious.. fellow military wifeys and girlfriends...
Do y'all have any tips, or tricks I need to know about???

Military Spouse Fill In!!!

1. How did you and your spouse meet?
Well. Long story short, he was in the same fraternity as my ex with a bunch of my friends.  (HAHA) We "KNEW OF" each other for a LONG time, but were both always in a serious relationship so we never "noticed" each other. He lived off campus with a bunch of guys that my girlfriends and I were really good friends with. We would always go over to his house to pre-drink and hang out before the bars. He would always be there, but we just NEVER talked. Like ever.... Fast forward like half a year later. He was single, and so was I. It was a really random night, we were all out together at everyones favorite bar, Rosebuds, and he asked me to help him pick out songs on the digital ipod/jukebox thing. We requested some southern rock, and The Beatles, and that's where it all began!!!! (we have some serious history with The Beatles. They were basically all the music in our wedding. My cousin sang a song by them, my bridesmaids walked down the aisle to The Beatles, and I walked down the aisle to them too!) SOOOOOO as my friend Lindsey tells it, we all went back to the guys' house to catch a cab home, and hang out for a little bit after the bar.. Lindsey says she was worried that I might be uncomfortable since I didn't know Snookums all that well, so her and our friend Drew started to come in the kitchen to hang out, when they realized that we had gotten to know each other quite well, and were making out in the kitchen. OOPS.
We've been together ever since!

2. How old were you when you two met?
I was 23, he was 24 when we first "noticed" each other.. I would say we were much much younger when we had first been around each other... It's hard to say!

3. How long have you been together?
We "met" and started hanging out in March of 2009. We started being "serious" around November 2009. He left for Basic training in November 2010. We got engaged in May 2011. We married October 2011.
4. Where are you and your spouse originally from?
We are both originally from the great state of KENTUCKY!
He is from Louisville, and I am from Lexington! But don't worry, we are both UK fans. We both went to college there!
5. How did you feel about him joining the military?
It was weird at first. We weren't super serious. I wasn't sure how things were going to play out for us. We loved each other, but it wasn't like we were ready to commit right when he left.
I also thought that him joining the Army was WAYYYY out from left field. I never in a million years would have thought of it for him, but NOW, I couldn't think of anything else for him?! He is so charismatic, and people love him and want to do great things for him. He is one of those people that everyone loves. He is great for leadership positions!
6. Where did your spouse go to Basic Training?
Fort Benning, Ga.
7. Has your spouse ever been deployed?
No. But it is right around the corner!
8. Ever been to his promotion ceremony?
I have been to his basic graduation, and his graduation from OCS where he received his 2LT pin.
I let his momma pin him for that one, and I also let her pin his airborne wings on him. I figure that he is gonna go pretty far, and I will get to pin many many more things on him!

9. How long have you been a military wife?
Not long... since October 21. 2011
10. Did you marry him before or after he joined?
I married him after!
11. How did your husband propose?
It was a true Kentucky proposal. He completely tricked me, and waited until the very last minute to ask me... Right before we moved cross country. You can read the story here...
12. Where did you get married?
In Louisville Kentucky, on an amazing rooftop in downtown Louisville on the river at sunset.
It was freaking cool. You can see some photos and read about it HERE
13. How old were you two when you got married?
25 and 26!
14. Did he wear his uniform on his wedding day?
Yes. He wore his dress blues and looked super FINE. Let me tell you. That boy can wear a uniform!!
15. Where are you and your spouse currently stationed?
NC
16. Do you live on base?
Nope... on purpose. I think it might be nice someday if we have kids.. but I like my space. I like not having to be reminded that my husband is gone all the time. ETC. I like that I can go on post, see people. interact all I want, but then come home and not have to see a single soul if I don't want to!
17. How long were you married when you had to go through your first separation?
Well, we haven't had to yet.. that is yet to come.. but like I said, right around the corner!
18. What is your favorite base so far?
I'm liking here so far! The last one we lived at was in Oklahoma. It wasn't terrible. But, I sure wouldn't outright request it again. The city of Lawton is kind of lacking.
19. Do you think your spouse looks good in his uniform?
MY word, YES.
20. Do you think military life is more advanced than civilian life?
Yes and No. I think there are times where they make things harder than it should be.
But I'm not going to go into detail or bitch about it. I really enjoy the life it has let us lead so far.
21. Do you like the benefits you receive as a military dependent?
Heck yeah! super awesome.
22. Do you have a lot of military wife friends?
Hmm. No. Not yet. I have however met some REALLY REALLY awesome ladies via blogging, that I could not be MORE THANKFUL for. It's so true that some things are just hard to explain to other people, including family and close friends.
23. What is the hardest part of the military life?
The anxiety and worry for their safety. By far. A lot of people will say loneliness as well.
24. Do you own military wife stuff?
Nope... I do have Army stuff... but not things that say "Army Wife" or whatever!
25. Do you support your spouse as a member of the military?
Absolutely. 100%. I am and will always be on TEAM SNOOKUMS!!

IF YOU’RE A MILITARY SPOUSE, TAG YOU’RE IT!!
Any of my military bloggy friends.. you should do this!! Let me know if you do so I can come check it out :)

Army Wives

Y'all.
Can I just take a minute to say HOW FREAKING EXCITED I am for the Army Wives Season 6 Premiere?!
I have absolutely LOVED this show. I loved it long long long before I ever thought I would someday become an Army wife. In fact, I specifically remember thinking, "I don't know how they do it!!"
Well. Guess I know now.
I remember the summer it started, it was a rough summer for me anyway (right after a big break up) and I just got completely immersed in it! I loved it!
I fell off the Army Wives bandwagon for a little bit in college, but when Snookums went away to basic and OCS, I can truthfully say that the show had A LOT to do with how well I handled it. It was just so awesome to see something like what I was going through on an awesome show, with some legit music.

Speaking of music. HOLY COW. What do you all think of Megan Washington's version of "Riders on the Storm"?!?
I never even thought of the original song (by The Doors) in this light. But this girls voice is amazing.
I seriously get CHILLS when I watch the trailer or hear the song.
I love it SO much.

What do y'all think?
Are you excited for Army Wives? Have you watched it the whole time?
And what do you think about that song?!?!

Not a Goodbye, just a "See You Later".

Well y'all. We did it.
I have spent my full first day of a deployment.
It doesn't feel that much different yet, except for the fact of course that I haven't seen him in a day.
I'm sure it will take some time for it to really sink in.
I'm hoping I can keep this level of positivity up!
It's unreal how positive things have been between us since he has left.
WE CAN DO THIS.

I haven't been very "present" via phone calls, texting, twitter, instagraming, facebook etc.
I don't want anyone to think it's because I am having a hard time with it, I'm actually doing quite well.
Sometimes, it helps to keep your little bubble up, and not be influenced by other people's questions and emotions. It's just how I manage things.
SO, I promise to return! But for today, a couple great pins I found that are perfect for how I am feeling today. A little sad, but also very optimistic.

Valentine's Day 2012

This has been such a great week!
I don't care what anyone says, I love Valentine's Day, and I love LOVE!
(this post has quite a few pics- so stick with me!)

On Saturday, Snookums and I picked up a pizza and some beers for the UK v. Vandy game.
(Which UK won. Of course. DUH.)
It was a nice relaxing night, except for Snookums freaking out a little bit. See below.
Sunday we spent ALL DAY relaxing. Snookums and Skeeter did a lot of napping, and I did a lot of Army Wives watching on Netflix, magazine reading, and red wine drinking.
We were bad parents and put Skeeter into Snookums beloved hat. He said he wanted him to "wear it" while he was gone.. So. Skeeter tried it out.
On Monday- Skeeter and I made some Valentine's Day cards for the family. He helped by getting in the way a lot. And he also did some paw "signatures".
I also made some fun little crafts for Snookums. I saw the idea on pinterest a long time ago. Most people did a deck of "52 things I love about you". Which I did. But then I had an extra deck of cards so I had a moment of PURE GENIUS and decided to make a deck of funny pick up lines too!
On the pinterest version, they bound them like a little book with metal rings and a hole punch, but I decided that he would probably look a little less conspicuous if he was just shuffling through a deck rather than flipping through a cutesy book. *One wifey point for me*.
I was trying to take a couple pics of them, and Skeeter just HAD to get right up in the shot. He is a serious camera hog. Oh. and one of my favorite pick up lines ever: If you were a booger, I would pick you first. So romantic.
We also got TWO Valentine's Day packages from the Moms & family! They really do spoil us rotten.
And yes. That is a princess card. It came with a little crown cut out for me from my momma moo. I will be taking a picture in it very soon.
On Tuesday, Snookums called me and let me know he was coming home EARLY! I was so excited! (and also SO glad I had actually finished something ahead of time for once and had his presents finished!)
As soon as he got home, I noticed he was carrying a white gift bag. He literally couldn't even wait to change out of his ACU's to give it to me!! So we exchanged as soon as he got home!
He is the KING of handmade cards. He ALWAYS gives me a handmade one for any occasion. There have been some seriously elaborate ones in the past. My friends still talk about them from time to time. They are THAT good.
He said that this Valentine's Day card he made me (on the right) was not his best work when it came to the visual aspects, but it was his best work when it came to the poem he had written inside.
I'm telling you. It was hilarious and so adorable.
I had already given him one card, and one large part of his Valentine's Day present the weekend before (the movie pack I wrote about earlier), but I had also made him another funny little card, and FINALLY was able to give him the "little black book" I had made for him before the wedding. (no pictures of that one. Sorry! haha) As well as the decks of cards. HE LOVED THEM. He read every single one and laughed at just about every single one of them :)
And then- Snookums completely surprised me with what my present was!!
He knows me so well. :)
I got a long strand of fresh water pearls!! He was so cute, and so proud of himself.
"I knew my princess would want a long necklace instead of a short one. That way you could wear it all kinds of different ways."
A man after my own heart!
After exchanging all our gifts, we decided that we were just going to take the easy way out, and go order a million different chinese food dishes and bring them back home!
While we were waiting on the food, we found the MOST ADORABLE dog store in the same shopping center! So, of course, we had to do a little Skeeter spoiling.
I had planned on just buying him some treats, but in true Snookums form, HE decided that Skeeter just HAD TO HAVE another baby. (This dog has 1,000 of them. And still just loves his one favorite)
So, Snookums bought him this crazy expensive blue furry monster.
It's actually really cute. I might just steal it.
See. I like the baby better than he does.
After we ate ourselves to death on chinese food, I gave Snookums his last Valentine's Day surprise. A sugar cookie pop!
He very obviously liked it, as you can see below. Goober.
The rest of the week was spent doing as MUCH relaxing as possible. Snookums was actually supposed to have Thursday and today off. But his Thursday "off" ended up being taken back somewhat. But we won't discuss that. Because I'm nice. And I'm not supposed to talk about those things. :)
But believe me, there was a minor rant involved there.
The rest of this weekend, there will be a whole lot of puppy and hubby snuggling going on.
Also- just want to put it out there that I TRULY appreciate all the sweet mail, phone calls, texts, tweets, and "facebooks"that we've gotten from our friends and family. It means a lot to both of us. But it also really means a lot to me that there are so many friends who are concerned for me as well. I just want everyone to know I'M GOING TO BE O.K! I PROMISE! haha I have been through some rough stuff before, and made it through to the other side. This is just another hurdle, and we are gonna jump this thing. No problem. ;)
ALSO!! I can't tell you how blown away I am at all the sweet comments, and emails, and tweets that I have received from my bloggy/instagram/twitter friends!!! It means so much that there are people out there that I have never "met" before who are so kind and caring. It makes me HAPPY!
Thank you to all!! And please keep us in your thoughts and prayers! :)
