Deployment Song

Well. I think I've found my "deployment song".
Everyone has one. It's a song that just says so much about the experience.
For me, I've handled the whole thing well, it's only every once in awhile that I let it get to me. It's just at night, when you start to worry, and you can't sleep, that it hits you.
Everyone says, "oh, just STAY BUSY!" (which drives me crazy.)
What people don't seem to understand, is that it doesn't matter "HOW BUSY" I stay throughout the day. I'm still coming home by myself. Still eating dinner by myself. And still going to bed by myself. All the time. Every single day.
But hey. I just close my eyes each night, and I'm another day closer!!!!!!

I'm normally not the biggest fan of Taylor Swift. I don't dislike her, just don't usually listen to her music... now The Civil Wars, on the other hand, are AMAZING. So, of course I would like this song. The video, not so much. And I haven't read Hunger Games yet. (I KNOW. THE SACRILEGE!)
I just love it. It's a little sad, but I see the positive in the lyrics too!

I remember tears streaming down your face
When I said, "I'll never let you go"
When all those shadows almost killed your light
I remember you said, "Don't leave me here alone"
But all that's dead and gone and passed tonight

Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound

Don't you dare look out your window darling
Everything's on fire
The war outside our door keeps raging on
Hold on to this lullaby
Even when the music's gone
Gone

Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound

Just close your eyes
You'll be alright
Come morning light,
You and I'll be safe and sound...

Hi there!

Hi everyone! I have taken quite a few "personal days" if you haven't noticed.Thank you so much for all the supportive comments and emails I got on my last post. I promise. I am returning them.  I have mostly stayed away from the internet, blogs, twitter, facebook, etc. The break was much needed. I am now back in NC, and trying to disconnect just a little bit from things that are keeping me sidetracked!
That doesn't mean I'm leaving by the way, I just needed a little break. Deployment is A LOT to deal with. What a lot of people don't realize, is that even if you trying your best to stay away from news stories, and information, you will still see it. It pops up in people's statuses, tweets, emails etc. I've just needed some time to get my "mind right".
Hope y'all understand and are willing to take me back?!?!

Today.

This is how I feel today.

I'm tired.
I miss him.
I'm tired of talking about it.

But, at the same time..

I got to hear from him.
I love him.
And I know that everything is going to be o.k!

Today, I'm taking a mental health day.

I will be getting my locks hi-lighted back super blonde.
I will give myself some Target therapy.
I will lay in a tanning bed. (even though I know it's bad for me.. I NEED that vitamin D)

I'll be back to regular peppy moo soon.

Skeeter celebrates Easter

Y'all. This happened.
No really. We had an Easter Egg Hunt for Skeeter.
But, before I go there...
Let me tell you who is responsible for this "Easter Egg Hunt"..
My parents!!
No, it wasn't an Easter egg hunt for "the kids", or for all of us for fun, it was for MY DOG.
(I'm not going to lie, I got a kick out of it too!)
Here are the adorable Moo's. Back from their bike ride to town!
I especially am loving my Dad's pose here. He means business.
Cute right?
And as always, repping AMURRRICA and our favorite Snookums.

Easter was very relaxing. I loved it. I didn't get my phone call I was hoping for (from Snookums) but it was still a wonderful day!
Momma Moo made my favorite, SPINACH DIP.
And yes, as mentioned earlier, we had an Easter egg hunt for my puppy.
Hims was SO EXCITED to hunt for eggs!!
We all went outside and had some fun "hiding" the eggs!
I would just like to take this opportunity to say, that I am an EXPERT egg hider.
I hide them in the most OBVIOUS of places.
I looked over at the door and saw Skeeter cheating.. he was looking the whole time!!!
He was so MAD that I called him out on cheating...
Bad Skeeter!
We let him out, and he went right for the very first egg. My Dad kind of helped him out though.
RIGHT BEHIND YOU SKEETER!!
Yummy!!
Just had to check all the empty ones out, just to be sure that they were, in fact, empty!
I love this little guy. Probably too much.
Oh, and for those of you wondering... Skeeter's "sister wives" watched safely from inside.
Don't know what in the world I am talking about? Read THIS (the story of Skeeter's Sister Wives!
We all had SO MUCH FUN watching him try to find the eggs, and get all excited when we opened them! I think it's safe to say that Skeeter is one spoiled puppy.
It's probably pretty safe to also assume that I'm pretty spoiled too :)

8pril

Y'all. This post is obviously a little after the fact..
BUT OMG WE ARE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!?!?!?!?!
Seriously, I am still so EXCITED about UK winning.
It was one of the more amazing weekends I have ever had in my life.
I went up on Friday evening, and spent the whole weekend in Lexington with some of my best friends!
We also put together a fun little surprise for my hubby (Snookums) who is currently deployed.
We made an awesome life size cardboard cutout of Snookums, and brought him to the game with us!!
Saturday we got to Two Keys bright and early, as they opened at 10 am and scored the best table in the house: The PacMan table!
I kind of love this photo. ^^^^
Yes. I am a goofball.
We took a couple pics with "Snookums" and his friends, as well as with Two Keys in the background.
I posted them to Facebook, tagged him in the photos and waited to hear his response.
HE LOVED IT!!!
He said he even sat there for a minute and was like, wait, when did I take that picture?!
hahaha. We even fooled Snookums.
Two Keys was such a good time. I got to see a bunch of people I hadn't seen since our wedding or even before! We had the best seats in the house to watch our team whip up on UL and win!!!
It was a packed house, over a 1000 people crammed into Two Keys, to the point that they had to stop letting people in a few hours before the game! Riot police lined up outside during the last quarter, and they shut down Limestone.
When we won, the place went CRAZY!!! Drinks were flying, people were dancing on tables, jumping, crowd surfing, running, dumping water, beers, screaming, crying, it was NUTS. Shortly after winning, everyone poured out onto Limestone and just ran around celebrating!!
It was out on Limestone that I got interviewed by ABC 36 about Snookums' picture, and why I had it :)
I am so GLAD now that I have that on video. (Even if I do look a little rough from all day in Two Keys!)
It really was one of the BEST days of my life. Just so FUN and so HAPPY! I wish terribly that I could have had my Snookums there with me, of course, but it felt great to just be free, not worry and be
happy for a day!
hahaha. not the best photo of everyone.. but still hilarious! ^^^
There was a lot of drama on a lot of media outlets about how we were "rioting" around Lexington. It makes me so sad that we looked so bad on the news. There were definitely some people who took advantage of the situation and did some dumb things, but most of us were just celebrating and HAPPY!!!
I have a TON more pictures from the night of the UofL game as well as the Final Game celebrations!
I also have some awesome video I will be sharing the next few days!! (including my interview with the news!!!)

SOOO EXCITED!!
GO CATS!!!
SO GLAD IT'S 8PRIL!!!

CATS CATS CATS!

TODAY IS THE DAY.
UK will play UofL in a FINAL FOUR SHOWDOWN!
If you aren't aware of the madness that is University of Kentucky fans, please, take a peek at these pics and video. Most of these are on campus or near campus right after we won our game against NC to move on to the final four.
Just to give you an idea, this is how "excited" we were when we played NC, who is a pretty big rival of ours. This Saturday we will be playing our BIGGEST rival ever. There has always been an ongoing EXTREME rivalry between us and Louisville. Seriously. I am scared that Lexington is going to burn to the ground.
This video is of a bunch of different places around Lexington. Crazy college kids. (HA)

This is right after we won, people were stampeding the William T. Young Library!

We have a thing for burning couches. Really. I don't get it. But it's kind of funny.

Fans burn couches after Wildcats win

I AM SO READY FOR THIS GAME!
All of us girls are going to be waiting at the door when TWO KEYS opens in the morning for the game that starts at 6:00 p.m.

(Side note, my husband is so excited too! I have got a phone call before and after every game so far. He is SOOOO EXCITED he can't stand it! wish he could be there for it with us! We have even discussed if it is possible to get a cardboard cut out of him to take with us. Really, he is a UK nut too. Way worse than me! When he tells me he loves me more than UK basketball, I know it's true love.)

AWWWWW C-A-T-S CATS CATS CATS!!!!
