Today, the Moo family is in Louisville, Kentucky to see off our youngest Moo.
Brother Moo has joined the NAVY and is heading off to boot camp!
We are so EXCITED for him!! This is the start of big things for Brother Moo!!
Snookums advice to Brother Moo was to "blend in". He said, if you get to boot camp graduation and they look at you and say, "Wait, who the hell are you??" then you've done a good job. LOL.
He also told him, that "They will tell you exactly what to do. Do exactly what they say, and you should be just fine."
I guess we will see?
I will write up a little post when we get back with some photos!
In honor of Brother Moo: HOOYAH!

I finally FOUND IT!
Let me tell you a little story.
Back when Snookums and I only "knew of each other" and while we were still dating other people, my girlfriends and I used to go over to Snookums and a bunch of guys in his fraternity's house to hang out. We always "knew" of Snookums as this guy who "always had cigarettes, the guy that lived upstairs, the quiet one, and the guy who played darts".
Seriously. He played them ALL THE TIME.
Their old house on Old Lafayette, or "Old Laf" as we called it, had a really awesome antique dart board cabinet! The kind with the serious wood dart board inside, old school chalkboard on the doors to keep score, and the real darts. He and some of the other guys would play, and play, and play, and PLAY darts.
Fast forward to when Snookums and I were "sort of dating" (we played it cool for a loooong time), we would play darts together. It was one of the sneaky ways to hang out together, but not necessarily be called out on it!
Anyway, long story short, ever since we finally admitted to dating each other (Im telling you, we played it VERY cool for a long time) I decided that I was going to find him an antique dart board just like the one at Old Laf.
Literally, almost two and half years have gone by since I've decided that. I've looked in EVERY SINGLE goodwill, antique store, thrift store, flea market, yard sale I have come in contact with in all our travels and moves with the Army. I've looked EVERYWHERE. Even online.
Then, this past Saturday it happened.
The clouds parted, the sun shone, angels sang HALLELUJAH and I found an antique dart board.
My mom was driving the car, cruising the flea market in our home town and I saw it. I literally yelled, "OMIGOD STOP THE CAR". I'm pretty sure I even hopped out before it stopped!!!!!
I RAN over to the dart board, asked him how much, and told him I was coming back with the cash and not to sell it to anyone else.
I FINALLY FOUND IT!!!!
I'm so happy. I couldn't stand it, so I told him that I got it for him (it's his birthday present!) and he is THRILLED.
I can't wait for him to get back so we can play darts again, and be all googley eyed like back in the day!

(I'm just throwing in this super awesome photo of us back in the "early days" where we weren't necessarily "claiming" each other just yet. Please note: Snookums extremely shaggy hair, and our intense game of thumb wars. Pay no mind to the beer that I am holding in the car. HEY. We had on our seat belts at least?!)

Momma Moo Day
Yesterday was Momma Moo day, also known as
“Mother’s Day.” I am SO GLAD I got to be home this year for it! I’m so blessed
to have such a wonderful, funny, and beautiful Momma Moo!
I also spent this last Friday with my FAVORITE
MIL ever. (Haha kidding. She’s the only one I’ve ever, and WILL ever have!) She
also deserved some serious recognition for what an amazing job she did with her
son. I’m serious. She has raised an amazing guy and my soul-mate! I couldn’t be
more thankful for her!
My Momma Moo and I are a lot alike in some
ways, and not so much in others. I just don’t know where I would be without my
Momma Moo. I was definitely (and still am) a very opinionated and stubborn kid,
so I have to credit her with some serious patience! But you know, I’m not going
to brag about what a wonderful child she raised, ahem… because that would be
bragging on myself…. (haha kidding) But really, she has been such an amazing
Mom to my brother and I over the years. She is always nothing but supportive,
and that means a lot in my book!
For Mother’s Day this year, we went to my
parent’s church, followed by a DELISH lunch from a Japanese Habachi grill. I
also gave Momma Moo the Vera Bradley makeup case I’ve been eyeing for her since
the new pattern came out! I think she loved it!
We also went and saw my Dad’s mom, who is
currently in a nursing home and brought her some pretty flowers and a Mother’s
Day card!
We then made sure to have the mandatory "family photo shoot" once we got home! Complete with silly out-takes and bloopers.
I'm such a photogenic young lady.. right?

Skeeter was making a break for it..

My Dad and I are a lot alike.. right? haha
Finally! A good one!

See. I can look normal if I try hard enough!!
It was a fabulous day! I made sure to
text/tweet/call some of the amazing mommas and soon to be mommas, as well as
moms of the “fur baby” variety! (like me!)
Would you believe that my stinker of a puppy
didn’t get me ANYTHING for Mother’s Day? His dad (Snookums) said it was because
he wasn’t here to “help him pick it out”. HAHA.
Speaking of Snookums, I’m pretty sure he
made his mom’s day by being able to call and say “Happy Mother’s Day” from the
sandbox! He even got to say it to my Momma Moo!!
Yesterday could not have been a better
Sunday/Mother’s Day! I hope all of you had a fabulous one as well!
Also. Can I just say that my Momma Moo is gorgeous?! And my parent's are just so darn cute...
Just sayin'.
Have a great day!

HAPPY
![]() |
I can't remember the source! If you know please tell me!! If you read my post yesterday, I said I had decided to get back to being happy, and talked about getting back the simpler things in life.
Deployment is one of those things that just SLAPS YOU IN THE FACE with reality.
The reality is that I'm by myself right now, the reality is that he will be gone for a few months, but the reality is also that it doesn't mean my "life" should stop just because he's gone.
SO, I'm getting back to the old moo.
I'm going to blog and write because it makes me happy.
I'm going to further some of these awesome friendships that I've found via the internet. Because y'all make me happy.
I'm going to take more photos, because it makes me happy.
I'm going to work on decorating the house the way I want to, because it makes me happy.
I'm going to get back to crafting, and DIYing because being creative makes me happy.
I'm going to start working out again, because it makes me happy.
I'm going to continue writing Snookums every single day, and spoiling him rotten with care packages, because it makes me happy.
I'm going to only surround myself with people who bring "the happy" as well.
I'm getting back to my happy y'all.

Let the wild rumpus start!
I was so sad to find out that the author of one of my FAVORITE BOOKS OF ALL TIME, died on Tuesday. Maurice Sendak wrote a book that I correlate with my childhood.
I fully intend on making our first child's (if we ever have them) nursery in the theme of "Where the Wild Things Are". It's that good.
"please don't go - we'll eat you up we love you so!"
They needed someone to control their wild side, to say when it was o.k. for the wild rumpus to start, and when to stop!
All this thinking about childhood, Max, and the Wild Things made me realize that I've lost that happy, young, and carefree outlook on life! I've decided that I'm going to get back into enjoying the little random things in life.
I'm starting to think I should get my wild side back.
I think it's time for the wild rumpus to start, again.

It's story I will always love.
I guess you could say I've always been a bit of a "wild thing" at heart. I always related to, and felt bad for the wild things.
When I was younger I played a part in a "school play" of a wild thing. I also dressed up as a wild thing two Halloweens ago.
When I heard about Maurice passing, it got me thinking about his book. I started thinking about how I always did relate to those wild things. They loved Max so much, they wanted his approval, they wanted someone to love and care for!"please don't go - we'll eat you up we love you so!"

Bloggy Makeover: Whiskey Tango Foxtrot Style.
If you've been around these parts before, you might notice a little change!
I got an AMAZING bloggy makeover from my fabulous and talented friend Kristen over at
I have always absolutely LOVED her blog designs. She is unbelievably talented. Her designs are so fresh and original! She's always coming up with an adorable design to switch up her own blog, and she's designed quite a few of my favorite blogger's blogs too!
She's so talented, and funny (I mean duh, look at her blog name) and gorgeous, and her and her husband have got to be one of the cutest couples I've ever seen in my life. No joke.
Let me tell you a little story of how this bloggy makeover came about.
This past Sunday, the day after Derby, I was traveling. I was happy because we were celebrating my brother's birthday, but I was also having a really "bad" day. If you've ever had a family member deployed, you know what I'm talking about. You just miss them. I had just spent the previous day celebrating Derby with friends, but I missed my husband. Derby was "our" thing. It was our very first date 3 years ago to the day. So, I was missing him. REALLY BAD.
Cue the lovely Kristen, of Whiskey Tango Foxtrot , who messages me out of nowhere and says "Hey, I never do this, but I would really love to do a blog design for you if you would like?"
Cue big BABY tears from me. It was the sweetest gesture out of nowhere. I'm not trying to be dramatic people, but I REALLY needed a pick me up. She just came out of the blue and offered to do something so kind and thoughtful. I cannot even explain what it did for my morale. I of course was like "ARE YOU SERIOUS??" (because I swear, she and I could be sisters from another mister when it comes to our tastes, and I have loved every single design she has done!) She went on to tell me that she would so happy to do it because I deserved it, and she just wanted to do something nice for me!! SO sweet!
I had the best time working with her and talking back and forth about the design. It was SO easy. I jotted down a couple things I liked and didn't like, and I swear, it was like she was in my head!! When she sent me the final draft I literally SCREAMED I was so excited! I was like a giddy school child waiting on her to tell me it was o.k. to look at my blog!!! It's perfect. It truly fits my style and personality to a T.
I just cannot get over how much I LOVE IT, and how THRILLED I am that a fellow military wife and all around fabulous chickadee offered to do it at no cost for me! I just feel blessed.
If you are interested in a new blog design, or if you don't read Kristen's blog (Whiskey Tango Foxtrot) OR if you do and love it already like I do, stop by and say hi and tell her you saw my post about her sweet gesture! :) She's a gem. I'm telling you.
THANKS GIRL!!! :)
